Check this page to keep up to date on shows and other events at Country Heritage Music Barn, which is at the east part of Country Heritage Music, 134 West Main Street (Highway 64) in downtown Clarksville. Our shows feature traditional/old time country, bluegrass, and gospel music. We currently have theater seating for 260 people, and plan to add a few more. Building is temperature controlled. Parking is available behind the building, on the street, and in the bank parking lot across the street (after bank business hours). We have a concession stand with popcorn, hot dogs, soft drinks, etc.
We have the following shows scheduled:
March 3 (Saturday), The Expedition Show. Check their website, www.theexpeditionshow for information on this fine bluegrass band.
Tickets will be $8 in advance or $10 at the door. Order advance tickets below using PayPal until March 2.
March 30 (Friday), Rodney Dillard and the Dillard Band. Most of you will remember the Dillards from the Andy Griffith Show. Tickets are $9.95 in advance online, or $15 at the door. Junior tickets will be $10 at the door (ages 6-12); order either below using PayPal. Under age 6, free. Advance tickets online will be available until March 29.
The Resonator Roundup, which up until now has been in early April, will be March 31. Order tickets for both evenings below.
Johnny Bellar, who played Dobro for the Stoneman Family for 10 years, and for Wilma Lee Cooper for 4 years, as well as performing at Opryland for 7 years, will perform both Friday and Saturday evenings. Johnny is also accepting students for a 1 hour Dobro Workshop Saturday at 10 a.m., at a cost of $35 per student. We ask that you let us know in advance if you plan to take part.
Johnny is also offering individual lessons at $35 for a half hour lesson, or $50 for an hour long lesson Saturday afternoon. He is also able to offer lessons on lap steel, dulcimer, or bass. Time spots are, of course limited, so please let us know if you would like to take part.
Payments for workshops and lessons, as well as Saturday show tickets, can be made by PayPal below, until March 29.
I am considering doing a resonator guitar contest this year, but would like to know if there is any interest in this. I am thinking about charging a $10 entry fee, and prizes would have to depend on how many contestants we had. Tentatively, first prize will be 10 hours of studio time (which could be used either for recording or mixdown), with one CD copy of the results, which winner could use as a master for ordering copies to sell. Other prizes would be things like accessories, custom leather strap, maybe an engraved cover plate. It would be VERY helpful to me, if anyone who would consider taking part in this would let me know as soon as possible. If no one responds, of course, I won't bother with it.
During our show days, we had been allowing jam sessions in the store area during the day. Unfortunately, this encouraged a lot of people to come jam all day, which not only interferes with store customers being able to try out instruments, but most of them have left at show time. So our new policy is, no jamming in the store area. Jamming will be permitted in the theater area, except during workshops, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., but all jammers and listeners will be required to buy a ticket for that day, even if they do not stay for the evening show. Ticket includes the price of the evening show, of course. We ask that there be no jamming while shows are going on.
A note to those seeking bookings on our shows...We are happy to consider booking artists who perform traditional bluegrass, gospel, and acoustical old time country music. We present clean family shows and are not interested in groups that feature drinking and cheating songs, profanity, etc. When I say "traditional", I am talking about Roy Acuff, Wilma Lee & Stony Cooper, Molly O'Day, Carter Family, etc....REAL country music! If your show fits our format, you are welcome to email me your promo materials and rates, especially if you are passing through the area and can give me a price break on your way to another show. Also, we do not do "canned music". All our shows feature live music. Thank you!
